Thursday evenings Banquet Dinner drew a crowd of almost
250 and provided one last opportunity for shipmates and friends to be together before the close of the convention.
Outgoing
president Dick Ager addressed the group and lead the singing of
"God Bless America".
The lucky winners of the Raffle drawings were announced.
Dean Hoover took home a lovely clock offered by the Men's Ship
Store. The
Ladies Pot O' Gold raffle winner was Norman Hickey. The
ticket was drawn by Bill Hamm, husband of the late Ladies
director Betty Hamm. A beautiful Flag afghan, donated by
Phyllis Gruber, was won by Eugene Hermansen, USS THADDEUS
PARKER DE-369.
Following dinner, the group enjoyed an evening of dancing and
one last chance to be with old friends. Shipmates
gathered to tell their last tales and share memories.
The playing of "Anchors Aweigh" brought the
evening to a close and farewell until next year.
