Business and Fun!

The Men's and Ladies' General Business Meetings were held on Wednesday. New members were elected to each board.
The new DESA directors are George Amandola, USS Huse DE 145/USS Chester T. O'Brien DE 421, Dick Briel, USS Selstrom DE 255 and Ray Windle, USS Fieberling DE 640.
One new director was elected to the Ladies Auxiliary board, Laverne Saylor.
After the meetings it was time to tour for many convention goers. A motorcoach headed for Golden, CO., then on to Black Hawk as part of a marvelous 8-hour tour.
Of those who stayed at the hotel, many spent the afternoon mingling in the lobby, hospitality room, or sitting outside in the beautiful sunshine. I even caught a few napping in the lobby.
It is with tremendous sadness that I report the death of Robert "Bob" Babcock, USS Menges DE 320. I had the honor of speaking with and taking photos of Mr. Babcock and his fellow shipmates on Monday. He became ill at the hotel today and passed away a short time later at University Hospital. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the Babcock family and Menges crewmembers. Bob will be greatly missed.
