USS Levy DE 162 Officers Go Ashore at Mille for U.S. Flag Raising

On 28 August 1945, Capt H. B. Grow and Clarenback lead a party from USS Levy DE 162 ashore at Mille for flag raising and to begin the U.S. occupation. The party arrived in the ship's whale boat, at right. The six-man honor guard included Chuck Hays and Woody Story.
