Registration Begins! It was a busy day in beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC. Well, until around Noon, when the rain began. But this in no way dampened the excitement surrounding the 27th DESA convention. The majority of members arrived last evening, so the line was long when registration opened at 1:00 p.m. I was told by John Cosgrove, National DESA representative, that this is the largest military convention ever hosted by the Sands Resorts company. Eventually, more than 900 members and guests will be in attendance! I hope to have an exact number tomorrow. The Royal Navy Captain's Class Frigate Association is well represented. It was a special honor for me to be invited to dinner this evening with this special group. Mr. John Huckle is the Keynote Speaker for the Early Bird Gathering and is a remarkable gentleman. After dinner tonight, he shared with me a copy of his RN CCF research on USS Calder for use on the web site. Pat P and Anne, do you here this?! I planned to take photos outside the hotel, but the rain kept me indoors. I will take these photos tomorrow, along with many more. People were scurrying around today and I was unable to get any good group photos, but I will tomorrow. This page is a bit short tonight because I had major problems connecting to the Internet and my connection is very slowww. I will work this out tomorrow. For those of you who signed the guestbook, I will pass your messages along! Although you cannot be here with us, you are here!
